Nourishing Partnerships for Change

Dear ,
Do you find yourself wondering if you’re doing enough to create the sustainable future you dream of? Do you care deeply about making changes that will truly bring good to this world?
You are not alone. And you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. You can partner with Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage’s nonprofit organization, the Center for Sustainable and Cooperative Culture, which has over 20 years of experience creating and nourishing a new human society where sustainable living is at the forefront. Our nonprofit is one of the few organizations in the country that teaches and demonstrates a fully integrated, green lifestyle.
You can help us reach an even wider audience and further maximize the impact of our programs; programs such as our Work Exchange Program, which gives interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in organic gardening, natural building, food preservation, and sustainable technology. These internship opportunities provide a deep-learning, and fully integrated ecovillage experience, which can truly change the course of someone’s life.
For example, former intern and resident Megan Cain came to Dancing Rabbit 15 years ago seeking an internship in organic gardening. She says,
For me, it was the exposure to gardening, to growing food, that now I realize coming here and having that exposure shot my life into a completely different direction.
Before coming to Dancing Rabbit, Megan lived in an urban environment with very little connection to her food source and she didn’t know a single person who had a garden. At first, the rural gardening lifestyle at Dancing Rabbit was a huge shock to her system. As she slowly integrated into this new life, she found her relationship to plants, gardening, and food forever changed.
After Dancing Rabbit, Megan went on to develop one of the first kids’ gardening programs in Madison, WI. She says,
I worked in a neighborhood that had pockets of lower income students who would come to the kids garden to learn how vegetables were grown, try vegetables, work on nature/art projects and cooking projects. It was really just exposing kids to where food comes from, what the plants look like, how things grow. So realizing that not everybody knows, because I didn’t know, where food comes from, what it looks like when its growing, what it tastes like when you pick it out of the garden. That was an experience that I wanted a part of kids having.
Although Megan was only here for a year and half, she took a lot of Dancing Rabbit with her. The way she was living here was directly translatable to her urban life in Madison and she has been able to plant the seeds of change in the next generation as well.
Supporting Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage’s nonprofit organization and programs like the Work Exchange Program does not only have an impact on the lives of those who are able to visit and learn from us, it also fosters ripples of experience and knowledge that touch countless lives, truly making a difference in the world and in the quality of life for all.
