In Search Of... a New Name!

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage

Dear Dancing Rabbit supporter,

The 2015 Permaculture Design Course made possible by Dancing Rabbit's non-profit educational branch.
I'm writing to invite you to help our nonprofit with an important (and hopefully fun) shift. After much thought-provoking contemplation we've decided to change the name of Dancing Rabbit's nonprofit branch.

Why? Well, over the years it's become increasingly clear that the words "Dancing Rabbit" mean both an amazing demonstration ecovillage in Missouri AND a research, education and outreach nonprofit based at that ecovillage. One key area of confusion occurs when people donate to "Dancing Rabbit"— that money doesn't go to the ecovillage, but to the nonprofit that tells the world all the great things the ecovillage is doing. (Another was that in much of the press around my speaking tour, I was regularly named the Director of the ecovillage, which I most certainly am not!)

So while we love the playful feel of the name Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage— and please note that the village is NOT changing its name— the time has come for the nonprofit to own its important role in the wider world and take on a more mature, more descriptive name, than Dancing Rabbit, Inc.

And since we're all about co-operation, we're inviting you, our biggest fans, into a multi-continent brainstorming session with us. Help us find our new name! You can find info here about what we're looking for, and how you can submit your ideas. We'll be taking suggestions until Nov. 10th.

Thanks for all your support over the years, and we hope you'll join us in the re-naming fun!
