From Independence to Interdependence!
Published: Wed, 07/06/16

We in the US may have just celebrated our independence as a nation, but at the Center for Sustainable and Cooperative Culture we’re constantly reminded of the interdependence of all life on Earth. A nation made of individuals is still dependent on the natural world— and one another. We all rely on a sustainable food supply and clean air and water for survival, and are increasingly aware of the impact of our actions on the planet.
Interdependence comes in many forms. One of the most ubiquitous might be the sweet relationship between bees and flowers. Bees sip the sweet nectar and use it to make honey while simultaneously carrying the fruitful pollen to the next flower.

Similarly, nonprofits like ours thrive from the pollination of our supporters like you. You help us expand our reach and increase our impact on the wider world. We depend not only on the financial support you so generously provide, but your words of encouragement, and sharing your excitement for our work with others. In turn, you depend on us to continue the important work of our nonprofit, which includes living our model of sustainable and cooperative culture and teaching others the skills to live more ecologically responsible lives.
Through this partnership, we inspire the world by sharing our example of collective living and providing hope for a better future and a livable planet. We do this with our online content, sustainability education programs, outreach events, and more, including our ever-popular visitor program. Recent visitor ElizaBeth had this to say:
"[The] visitor program was a profoundly inspiring and educational experience. I was blown away by the co-operative culture I encountered… The amount of comfort and depth our group was able to communicate with was unparalleled. I'm grateful... to experience such warmth and support from an Ecovillage that mirrors my own values of living lightly and intentionally on the earth."
~ElizaBeth, visitor in our first-ever women-only visitor session, June 2016
Socially and ecologically responsible lifestyles are ever more essential as we strive to adapt to the realities of climate change. Let’s celebrate our freedom and work together to inspire change, hope, and acceptance of the great responsibility that comes along with holding our place in the web of life. We need each other now more than ever!
Will you celebrate with us by making your tax-deductible gift today?
